Elizabeth Jemison, a Clemson Religious Studies professor, will speak from her expertise on the history of southern religion and race to explore how lessons from the past can guide our work for justice today. Jemison is an award-winning teacher who is the author of Christian Citizens: Reading the Bible in Black and White in the Post-Emancipation South. Her next book will explore her own white southern family’s complicity in the history of racial injustice. Jemison holds a PhD from Harvard University and lives in Greenville with her husband and their three young children.
